France is No. 1 tourist destination and there is a reason why. Actually, plenty of reasons. It has everything a person can dream of – art and architecture, cuisine and nature, unique culture and atmosphere.
There is only one problem – decide where to travel first. Every city and small towns in France have amazing things to offer. Let’s start with the most visited and famous city.
Paris is always a good idea, they say. The enormous city of sophistication, class, and style. Paris in June is the best summer vacation spot. You must visit it at least once and you’ll forever stay in love with the city. Scale the Eiffel Tower and walk along the Seine (or take the cruise down the river). Admire Notre Dame which is the most marvelous example of Gothic architecture with its dramatic towers, stained-glass windows, and gargoyles. Pick a day to spend in the Louvre or Musee d’Orsay and top it with a Pierre Herme macaron. Speaking of food, you will love French cuisine. Aside from world-known croissants, you need to try onion soup, coq au vin, ratatouille and, of course, French wine and cheese. Spend the evening in one of the rooftop bars like Monsieur Mouche or La Terrasse at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann and admire the City of Light from above with a glass of champagne.
Don’t make the mistake lots of tourists do. Don’t try to see everything in two days – it’s impossible. It’s much better to plan less and enjoy every minute of it.
